Five Trojan Trackster Get Qualified At The Trojan Invitational

Los Angeles - Sophomore hammer thrower Julianna Tudja, who transferred to USC from SMU this past fall, threw a personal best 201-10 in her Cromwell Field debut to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, while four other Trojans picked up NCAA provisional marks at the Trojan Invitational hosted by USC at Katherine B. Loker Stadium on Saturday (Mar. 3).
Senior hammer All-American Norbert Horvath (219-3), freshman javelin thrower Inga Stasiulionyte (169-8), junior shot putter Cynthia Ademiluyi (50-8 1/4) and freshman high jumper Dawid Jaworski (7-3 1/3) all recorded NCAA provisional qualifying marks as USC competed against Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, San Diego State, Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Poly Pomona.
A couple other Trojans just missed NCAA provisional marks: defending Pac-10 triple jump champ junior Tatyana Obukhova (41-3 1/4--just one inch off the required distance) and senior sprinter Andre Ammons (46.24 in the 400m--.04 off the necessary time).
Junior sprinter Miguel Fletcher, who is also a tailback for the USC football team, had one of his finest days as a Trojan trackster, running the fastest 100m race of the day (10.47) and finishing second in the 200m (21.27).
USC next competes at the Bennie Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif., next Saturday (Mar. 10). The Trojans return home to Katherine B. Loker Stadium to host the Texas and LSU men's teams and the defending NCAA women's national champion LSU team on Saturday, Mar. 24.
