Post, Present Bruins Get High Marks At USA Indoor

UCLA senior Christina Tolson on Saturday placed third in both the women'sshot put and weight throw at the 2001 USA Indoor Track and Field Championshipsin the Georgia Dome at Atlanta.
Tolson, from Fountain Valley, placed third in the shot put with a mark of56-4 3/4 and was also third in the weight throw with a 65-5. As a junior lastseason, Tolson earned NCAA All-America honors four times for the Bruins, twiceoutdoors (shot put/hammer) and twice indoors (shot put/weight throw).
Also in the women's throws on Saturday, in the shot put, freshman JessicaCosby placed fifth in the shot put (52-7 1/2) and junior Chaniqua Ross wasseventh (51-10 1/2). In the weight throw, sophomore Cari Soong was ninth (59-43/4).
Senior Michelle Perry placed 13th (8.50) in the women's 60m hurdlespreliminary race and did not advance to the final.
In men's competition, junior Scott Moser was sixth in the shot put (59-73/4).
On Friday, Bruin junior Tracy O'Hara was fifth (13-3 3/4) in the women'spole vault.
Bruin alumni who performed well at the 2001 USA Indoor included: AmyAcuff, first in the women's high jump (6-3 1/2), Bisa Grant, second in thewomen's 60m hurdles (8.02), John Godina, second in the men's shot put (67-6), andSeilala Sua, fourth in the women's shot put (56-2).
