Women's Tennis No Match For Bruins

Los Angeles -- The 12th-ranked USC women's tennis team broke a two-match losing streak against the 22nd-ranked Bruins with a 5-2 win on Saturday at UCLA's Los Angeles Tennis Center. With the victory, the Women of Troy improve to 9-3 on the season, while the Bruins fall to 3-7. The match did not count among Pac-10 standings.

With decisive wins at courts two and three, the Trojans earned the doubles point to enter singles play with a 1-0 lead. USC clinched the match with four, two-set victories at No. 1, 3, 5 and 6, including a 6-0, 6-0 win by Maureen Diaz at the third court.

UCLA posted its two points at the No. 2 and 4 positions as Petya Marinova and Mariko Krockow defeated Anita Loyola and Bernadette Bayani.

The Women of Troy return to action on Thursday, March 8, when they host William & Mary at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Tennis Stadium.
