Husky Men's Tennis Defeats Virginia Tech Hokies, 6-1

IRVINE, CA. - The sixth-ranked Washington men's tennis team defeated Virginia Tech University 6-1, in play this afternoon. The Huskies (11-4, 1-1) have won five matches in a row, tying the longest win streak since head Coach Matt Anger's arrival back in 1995. The Dawgs have now won eight of their past ten matches, the last defeat coming on Feb. 16 against No. 5 Duke.
In singles play, the Huskies dominated from top to bottom, winning out in each position for the fourth-straight match. Sophomore Dillon Ruby saw his second action of the season defeating Virginia Tech's Saber Kadiri in the sixth spot, (6-2, 6-7, 6-2). Senior Marius Lunde moved up to No. 4 to face Jay Bruner, defeating him in two sets, (6-3, 6-2). Matt Hanlin earned his fourth-straight victory, taking care of Davor Dupljak, (6-1, 7-6). The Huskies also received victories from Andrej Bizjak, Jeremy Berman, and Ari Strasberg.
In doubles play, Washington's Hanlin and Ruby teamed up to beat the Hokie duo of Laulund/Vu, 8-6.
Washington will face U.C. Irvine in their final match of the road trip Monday at 1:30 p.m.
