Men's Tennis Duo Falls In Semifinals Of Pacific Coast Doubles Championships

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Stanford seniors Ali Ansari (Houston, TX/Second Baptist HS) and Scotty Scott (Belvedere, CA/Pinewood School) had their winning streak snapped at 12 matches with a 7-6, 6-3 semifinal loss to Marcin Matkowski and Travis Rettenmaier of UCLA on Sunday at the 112th Pacific Coast Doubles Championships at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.
Fifth-seeded and 18th-ranked Ansari and Scott had advanced to the semifinals with four consecutive straight set wins, including a 7-5, 6-4 quarterfinal upset over second-seeded and seventh-ranked Jean-Noel Grinda and Jean-Julien Rojer of UCLA. The duo is now 16-5 on the year after starting off 2-3.
The second-ranked Cardinal (8-1) returns to action when it hosts 69th-ranked William & Mary (6-5) on Wednesday at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium at 1:30 p.m.
