UW Men's Tennis Continues Win Streak; Defeats U.C. Irvine

IRVINE, CA. -The sixth-ranked Washington men's tennis team defeated U.C. Irvine 6-1, in play this afternoon. The Huskies (12-4, 1-1) have won six matches in a row, now the longest win streak since head coach Matt Anger's arrival back in 1995.

In singles play, Washington won five out of the six positions. Matt Hanlin defeated Oliver Schweizer in two sets, (7-6, 6-1). Jeremy Berman outlasted Chris Ma, defeating him (7-5, 4-6, 6-4). Ari Strasberg, playing in the No. 5 spot, defeated Greg Biorkman for his fifth-straight win (7-6, 6-2). Marius Lunde and Dillon Ruby also provided the team with two more wins.

The Huskies won the doubles point as Berman/Strasberg defeated Schweizer/Matthew, 9-7. Washington also came up victorious in the No. 2 position as Hanlin/Ruby took care of Ma/Endrikat, 8-5.

Up next for Washington will be a road trip to Hawaii where they will face the University of Hawaii and the University of Arkansas on March 20-21.
