Lawson Travels to NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

BERKELEY - California senior Dana Lawson will represent California in the shot put at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. Lawson competes Friday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Lawson automatically qualified for the NCAA Championship in the shot put with a first-place throw of 53-3.5 March 3 at the McDonald's Last Chance Meet in Moscow, Idaho. She enters NCAAs with the sixth-best qualifying mark in the country.

Lawson's qualifying mark ranks second on Cal's all-time performers' list behind Kristin Heaston's (1999) mark of 54-4.75. Lawson recorded her previous best in the shot put of 49-10.5 at last year's Big Meet.
