17th-Ranked Rainey and Moore Advance to Finals

LA JOLLA -- USC's 17th-ranked doubles team of Ryan Moore and Nick Rainey advanced to the finals of the 112th Annual Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Tournament last week (March 2-4), eventually falling to UCLA's Marcin Matkowski and Travis Rettenmaier in the championship match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. The tournament was held at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
Entering as the top-seeded duo, Rainey and Moore advanced to the title match by defeating second-seeded Anthony Ross and Peter Smith of Malibu 6-2, 7-7 (4). After a 6-1, 6-1 win the first round, USC defeated Pepperdine's top doubles team of Chase Exon and Al Garland 7-6 (4), 6-3 to advance to the Quarterfinals.
Andrew Park and Damien Spizzo also represented the Trojans, but fell in the first round to the eventual champions, Matkowski and Rettenmaier.
Results from this tournament do not count against NCAA records.
