PAC-10 GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--

UCLA Freshman JAMIE DANZSCHER has been named Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week for February 28-March 4.

Danzscher, the 2000 U.S Olympian and San Dimas, CA native, made an immediate impact for the Bruins. Arriving in Westwood from Sydney, she practically stepped off the plane, unpacked and registered for classes while simultaneously showing off her phenomenal gymnastics skills in Pauley Pavilion.

At the fifth annual Bruin Classic on Sunday, Danzscher helped the Bruins post a meet record 197.7 points. On the floor, she was one of three Bruins to score back to back perfect 10's on the event. Their team total of 49.85 was 0.15 points shy of team perfection...Danzscher's 10.0 marked her fourth perfect mark on floor. She tied for first on that event and then proceeded to win every other event she entered... On the vault, her 9.925 tied her career-high and she also scored a 9.925 on the bars.

Your atTENtion please...Danzscher tops the UCLA record books for most perfect 10s with six 10's already posted this season. She has scored at least one perfect 10 in five of eight meets and has received the coveted score in three consecutive meets...Prior to this breakout year, UCLA gymnasts had scored only 12 perfect 10s in Bruin history. Now in just one season, the Bruins have scored 15! (Six of which belong to Danzscher).

Nationally, Danzscher tops the rankings too...While the Bruins top the team charts on floor and bars, Danzscher heads their charge with the No. 1 individual rank on both of these events.

ALSO NOMINATED: Mandi Klug, WASHINGTON, Randi Liljenquist, ARIZONA, Katrina Severin, OSU, Lindsay Wing, STANFORD, Kelly Cowley, ASU.

PREVIOUS WINNERS: Jan. 21-Mohini Bhardwaj, UCLA. Jan. 28-Mohini Bhardwaj, UCLA. Feb. 4- Lindsay Wing, STAN. Feb. 12-Kara Fry, ARIZONA. Feb. 20- Onnie Willis, UCLA. Feb. 28 -Laura Moon, ASU.

PAC-10 NOTES

ARIZONA- The Wildcats may have been defeated by the No. 9 Arizona State, but the Wildcats were far from being disappointed. Their team total of 196.900 was the best score in school history. On floor exercise, their team total of 49.475 was another record breaker...Arizona also set season-high marks on vault (49.100) and beam (49.00)...JR Randi Liljenquist's 39.650 was a career high, moreover, it earned her the All-Around title. Two 9.90's placed her on the golden podium on beam and vault as well...Arizona has set season-high team scores every weekend for the past three weeks.

ARIZONA STATE - The No. 9 Sun Devils continue to make their way to the top of the rankings. One week after tying multiple school records, ASU bettered them before the ink could even dry...In a victory over Arizona, ASU destroyed their four-year old team record scoring 197.45 to Arizona's 196.9...School records were also set on the bars (49.375) and floor (49.625)...Saturday was clearly the Sun Devils best showing this season, They posted season-high marks on the vault (49.125) and beam (49.275)...FR Maggie Germaine posted four season-high scores. Her 39.550 All-Around score was good for a win and a mere 0.25 points shy of the school record... SR's Kristin Fanning and Kelly Cowley led on floor with career-best performances of 9.95 and 9.975 respectively...Never off balance...ASU's win on the balance beam increased its record on that event to 7-0.

CALIFORNIA -At the Bruin Classic on Sunday, the Bears finished in second place (195.025) to UCLA's meet record 197.700...SR Pari Olver was California's top All-Arounder for the third consecutive week (39.200). On floor exercise, Olver's 9.925 and JR Lindsay Baker's 9.90 were California's highest marks of the competition.

OREGON STATE - Oregon State was defeated by No. 4 Stanford. The Beavers scored 195.050 to the Cardinal 197.050...The Beavers struggled on the first event with two falls on bars. SO Elizabeth Jillson was their top performer on bars with a 9.900 score that tied for first...SR Katrina Severin showed why she is the second-best vaulter in the nation with a 9.90 win on that event. Severin has dominated the event seven times this season...OSU will travel to Utah State this weekend.

STANFORD -Stanford's win against Oregon State marked its fifth straight victory this season. The Cardinal improved to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the Pac-10...The Freshman trio took the top three spots in the All-Around, Lindsay Wing (39.650), Robin Phelps (39.500) and Caroline Fluhrer (39.300)...On floor exercise, Cardinal gymnasts continued to impress, FR Lise Leville and Wing enthralled the judges and earned 9.950's for their efforts. The team total 49.600 was a new season-high...Against BYU, Wing's mastery of the events were apparent. She won every event and set career-high marks on floor (9.975) and bars (9.950). Her 39.750 in the All-Around ties Stanford's second highest total.

WASHINGTON - The Huskies score of 196.725 was good for a first-place tie with Utah. Utah had won all 27 previous meetings against the Huskies. Western Michigan finished in third place (194.075)...SR Mandi Klug scored a 10.0 on floor becoming just the second Husky gymnast to do so. Her mark was the sixth 10.0 overall in Washington history...The Huskies posted a school-record 49.500 on the floor and the vault (49.400)...Standout JR Stacy Wong had another great meet setting career-highs on vault (9.975) beam (9.90) and floor (9.90)...Vaulting her way into the spotlight was FR Emily Pritchard. Her 9.950 on vault was one of the highest scores of the day. Pritchard's 39.350 All-Around score was another high and evidence that everyone in the Husky camp is ready for the Championships...

UCLA- The No. 1 Bruins were simply amazing. The top-ranked team won its fifth consecutive Bruin Classic on Sunday. Cal followed with a 195.025, Utah State, 192.225 and UCSB, 188.575...The Bruins 'floored' the judges and the tens just kept coming...With three simply perfect performances, FR Kristin Maloney, SO Onnie Willis and FR Jamie Danzscher each earned perfect 10s on the floor. It comes as no surprise that their 49.85 team total was a school record...The Bruin gymnasts scored 11 marks of 9.90 or more, enabling them to score a meet record 197.7...The back to back, to back, 10's were meet records and both Maloney and Willis's first 10's on floor. It was the fourth 10.0 on the event for Danzscher and her sixth overall...SR Mohini Bhardwaj also posted a meet record and career-high 9.95 on beam.
