No. 1 UCLA Men's Tennis Defeats Arizona 7-0

Los Angeles, CA -- The top-ranked UCLA Bruins tennis team remained undefeated on the season after defeating Arizona, 7-0 this afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins improved to 11-0 overall (5-0 Pac-10), while Arizona falls to 9-4 overall (0-4 Pac-10) with the loss.
The Bruins won two of three at doubles to earn the first point of the match. At No. 3, Lassie Ketola and Erfan Djahangiri downed Arizona's Arnaud Agniel 8-5, while Marcin Matkowski and Travis Rettenmaier defeated Whi Kim and Tom Lloyd, 9-8(4) at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point. At No. 1 the tandem of Jean-Julien Rojer and Jean-Noel Grinda were down 4-0 to Steven Capriati and Carl Hagman but could not pull of the victory as the pair lost 9-8(4).
UCLA swept all six singles matches as Djahangiri clinched the victory at No. 3, defeating Hagman in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
The Bruins return to action this Tuesday (Mar. 13) in a match against the University of Kentucky at the LA Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm.
