March 12, 2001
DAVIS, Calif. - No. 19 California concluded a season sweep of UC Davis winning the triangular meet with a score of 194.700. The Aggies finished second in the competition with a final score of 192.375 and Seattle Pacific placed third at 189.925 in Recreation Hall Saturday.
Cal swept the top four places in both vault and bars. Janet McKnight won the vault at 9.775 and finished in a tie for second on bars at 9.800. Pari Olver was second on both events. Katreece Stone won both the floor exercise (9.925) and beam (9.875) while teammate Carrie Kreifels captured the individual all-around with a four-event total of 39.200.
Stone's mark on the floor set a new career high for the red-shirt freshman while Kreifels tied a season high on the bars, which was set in Cal's last meeting with UC Davis.
For the Aggies, Flora Bare was second in the all-around with a 38.775 and was tied for third on floor at 9.850. Ruelas was fourth in the all-around at 38.150 having suffered an uncharacteristic fall on uneven bars. She salvaged the 38-point barrier by posting 9.825 on both beam and floor.
Jennifer Christman and Cassie Althauser were the high finishers for SPU. Christman tied for fifth on vault with a 9.625, while Althauser was T5th on beam at 9.700.
The Bears conclude their regular season in a dual meet at San Jose State, Friday, Mar. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
