Seventh-Ranked Women's Tennis Hammers Hawkeyes of Iowa, 7-0

TEMPE, Ariz. - The seventh-ranked Arizona State (10-3, 3-3) women's tennis team defeated the University of Iowa by a 7-0 score today at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe. The Devils remain undefeated at home (8-0), and have swept each opponent in Tempe by a 7-0 score.

In doubles play, ASU earned its team point by stealing all three matches. No. 28-ranked Adria Engel and Karin Palme tandem defeated Iowa's Jody Scheldt and Megan Kearney on the No. 2 court, 8-6. On the No. 3 court, ASU's Cindy Sureephong/Megan Yeats combo improved to 12-1 in dual action as they defeated Iowa's Steffi Hoch and Erica Johnson, 8-2.

In singles action, ASU failed to drop a single set as the Devils stole all six matches. No. 12 sophomore Adria Engel defeated the Hawkeyes' Toni Neykova, 6-2, 6-0, and No. 47 sophomore Megan Yeats improved to 10-3 in dual play with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Steffi Hoch.

The Devils will host the No. 32 Bruins of UCLA this Friday at 1:30 p.m. (MST) and the No. 12 Trojans of USC on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (MST). Both matches will take place at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe.
