March 13, 2001
WALNUT CREEK, CA. - California's Jocelyn Forest was named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 5 - Mar. 11, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced yesterday.
Forest, a junior from Santa Maria, CA., pitched 39 scoreless innings while going 5-0 with two saves (the first two of her career) for the No. 4 Golden Bears throughout the week. In that span, she gave up just eight walks and 17 hits while striking out 57 batters. She defeated New Mexico State, UC Santa Barbara, No. 9 Arizona State and No. 12 Iowa twice, which earned her all-tournament honors at the National Invitational Softball Tournament in Sunnyvale, CA. Currently, Forest is 15-0 with a 0.19 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 108 innings. Her scoreless innings streak has now reached 86 innings, which is the sixth longest in NCAA history.
Forest garners the first award of her career giving Cal 45 honors all-time.
