Women's Golfers Finish Fifth in Pioneer Bruin Classic

The UCLA women's golf team finished fifth in the 11th Annual Pioneer Electronics Bruin Classic played at Menifee Lakes Country Club, Mar. 12-13.
Tenth-ranked Pepperdine won its second straight Pioneer Bruin Classic team title and Waves sophomore Katherine Hull claimed the individual title.
Pepperdine, which played 54 holes in nine over par 873, won by six shots over No.21 Oklahoma, which finished second at 879. Third-ranked USC finished third at 887, followed by California in fourth at 896. The Bruins posted a three-round team total of 902.
Hull posted a three-round total of 213, three-under par. She won by three shots over Nevada's Angie Yoon, Oklahoma's Allison Johnson and USC's Candie Kung, who each finished in a tie for second place at even par 216. Teammate Lindsey Wright finished fifth at 217.
The top UCLA finishers were senior Laura Moffat and freshman Johanna Andersson, who posted 54-hole totals of 224 and tied for 19th. Andersson competed as an individual. UCLA junior Alicia Um finished in a tie for 22nd at 225, followed by freshman Saki Uechi, who tied for 33rd at 228. Senior Leilani Bagby tied for 40th at 229 with freshman Gina Umeck.
Other UCLA players competing as individuals were: freshman Melissa Martin, tied for 24th at 226, freshman Krystal Shearer, tied for 33rd at 228, sophomore Vivan Phosomran and freshman Charlene Alfonso, tied for 61st at 234 and sophomore Bridget Dwyer, tied for 99th at 247.
