Day Two Of NCAA Championships Underway

Long Island, NY- Day two of the 2001 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships got underway at the Nassau County Aquatic Center with the Bruins finishing 14th overall. Auburn still leads the field, followed by Georgia, Stanford, Texas and Arizona to round out the top five.
In the day's first event, the Bruins finished ninth in the 200 Yard Medley with a time of 1:41.06. In the 800 Free Relay, UCLA clocked a time of 7:24.85 to place 18th.
Several Bruins performed well in the evening's finals individual events. Senior Beth Goodwin placed fourth in the 100 Fly Championship final with a time of 53.55, while Brighid Dwyer finished 11th overall in the 100 Back with a time of 54.69. Dwyer's time was just .64 seconds shy of the school record of 54.05 set by Kristin Heydanek in 1994.
In this morning's prelims, Brooke Winkler was 17th (4:18.55) in the 400 IM, Julia Voitovitsch was 22nd in the 100 Fly, Sara Platzer was 38th (1:49.85) in the 200 Free, Jen Noddle was 32nd (1:04.453) and Lyndee Hovsepian was 33rd in the 100 Breast.
Anne Baghramian competed in the three-meter springboard and finished 27th with a point total of 429.65.
The NCAA championships conclude with the prelims beginning at 11:00 and the finals at 7:00 pm EST.
