March 19, 2001
ATLANTA, GA - Oregon State University's Felicia Ragland is a finalist for the Kodak Women's All-America Basketball Team as was announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The Eastman Kodak Company.
Ragland, a 5-9 junior, is one of 48 NCAA Division I players vying for the 10-member Kodak All-America squad. Ragland received the most votes of the six finalists from District 8 to receive District All-America honors. District 8 includes all 26 schools from the Big West, West Coast and Pacific-10 Conference.
Ragland is the first Oregon State player to receive All-America recognition since Tanja Kostic earned honorable mention Kodak All-America honors in 1996. Just three OSU athletes have gained Kodak All-America honors, Carol Menken-Shaudt (1981), Judy Spoelstra (1983) and Kostic (1996).
Ragland, The Pac-10 Conference Player of the Year, ranks second in the conference in scoring with 19.7 points per game. The Tulare, CA ranks fifth in the conference in rebounding (7.5 rpg.), third in steals (2.61 spg.), first in 3-point field goal percentage (.466) and third in 3-pointers made (2.21 avg.).
Ragland is one of just eight OSU players to score 1,000 career points (1,165) and grab 500 career rebounds (527).
WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical districts vote for the Kodak All-America team which will be announced in St. Louis on March 29.
