Men's Tennis Squeaks Past No. 29 Arkansas

OAHU, Hawaii - The ninth-ranked University of Washington men's tennis team defeated No. 29 Arkansas, 4-3, to bring their win streak up to eight matches. Sophomore Matt Hanlin led the team with his over upset No. 1 Oskar Johansson in singles play.

Washington lost the doubles point as both the No. 1 and 2 duos of Jeremy Berman/Andy Posavac and Dillon Ruby/Ari Strasberg were defeated by scores of 8-4 and 9-7, respectively. The Huskies did get a win in the No. 3 position as Andrej Bizjak and Matt Hanlin earned their third straight victory as a duo, defeating Arkansas' Magnus Kullenberg and Eduardo Pacheco, 9-7.

In singles play, Washington earned victories in the No. 1, 2, 3, and 5 positions. Bizjak, playing in the second slot, clinched the win for the Huskies as he defeated No. 40 Henrik Tofft in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 7-5. Berman rolled past Kullenberg in the No. 3 position, 6-2, 6-2. Berman is now 5-1 when playing in the third spot. Strasberg defeated Tiago Azvedo in two sets, 6-3, 6-3. Hanlin held on to take care of the top-ranked Oscar Johansson, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Both Posavac and Marius Lunde were defeated.

The Huskies will face Gonzaga on Friday, March 30 in Seattle at the Bill Quillian Stadium at 2 p.m.
