WALNUT CREEK, CA - California Golden Bear outfielder Pauline Dueï¿½as has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week for Mar. 12 - Mar. 18, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Dueï¿½as, a senior from Chula Vista, Calif., batted .375 (6-for-16) with two doubles, six runs scored and six RBI, leading the Bears to a 4-1 record during the week at the Capital Classic in Sacramento, CA. In the Classic, Cal knocked off Miami-Ohio, Eastern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Purdue. Dueï¿½as' performance improved her batting average .031 points over the weekend, and she is now hitting .223 with three doubles, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and 21 hits.
The Bears head to Marietta, GA this weekend for the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic. Cal opens against Harvard on Friday at noon and come back at 5 p.m. to play Southeast Missouri State. Saturday, the Bears battle Mercer at 10 a.m. and No. 22 Wisconsin at 2 p.m. Saturday night and Sunday, the tournament moves to bracket play, with the championship game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
