Husky Tracksters Finish Second, Third at UC Davis Quad

SEATTLE--The Washington track teams wrapped up a week-long trip to California at the UC Davis Quad meet, Saturday.
The men's team finished the meet with 185 points, enough to grab the runner-up spot to California, who scored 190. UC Davis finished third with 170 followed by Chico State with 94.
Senior Ja'Warren Hooker (Ellensburg, Wash.) won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes in times of 10.34 and 20.65. Red-shirt freshman Eric Garner (Kelso, Wash.) won the 1500m (3:53.45), while senior Greg Barber (McKinney, TX) took the 110m hurdles (14.71). Junior Marcus Kelly (Seattle, Wash.) leaped 49-2 1/2 to win the triple jump title, while freshman Seth Jens (Coldstrip, Mont.) nabbed the javelin title with a toss of 190-2. The 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams also won with times of 41.18 and 3:31.39 respectively.
The women's team took third overall with 160.50 points. California won the meet followed by Nevada with 166.50. UC Davis finished fourth with 148.
Sophomore Megan Spriestersbach (Lakewood, Wash.) won the javelin throw with a toss of 149-5, while senior Chelsie Pentz (Kitsap, Wash.) snagged both the 200 and 400 meter dash titles with times of 24.70 and 55.47. Junior Kelsey Sheppard (Bellevue, Wash.) swept the hurdles titles winning the 100-meter event in 14.67 and the 400 in 59.64. Sophomore Kate Bradshaw (Issaquah, Wash.) won the 3,000-meter run (9:52.31) while the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams took their events clocking a 46.56 and 3:45.74 respectively.
Next up for the Huskies is the Stanford Invitational March 31-April 1 in Palo Alto, Calif.
