Washington Track Athletes To Compete at Stanford Invitational.
March 28, 2001
SEATTLE--A handful of Washington track athletes will make a trip back to California, Friday, to compete at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto.
The two-day meet, which runs Saturday and Sunday, pits the best athletes from around the nation against each other.
Husky head coach Orin Richburg said the eleven athletes that will make the trip for Washington are NCAA hopefuls.
'The group of kids that are competing at Stanford are the ones who have demonstrated a high level of ability and have the potential to qualify for the NCAA Championships,' Richburg said. 'This meet allows them the opportunity to get a qualifying mark out of the way early, so they can compete for the rest of the season without the pressure of trying to achieve that mark.'
Full results from the Stanford Invitational meet will be available daily on the Stanford website: gostanford.com.
