Ducks Suspend Sales of New Football Season Tickets

March 29, 2001

EUGENE - The University of Oregon has suspended sales of all new football season tickets for the upcoming 2001 season pending the passing of the April 16 deadline for previous season ticket renewals, according to Associate Athletics Director Dave Heeke.

The suspension of sales is a result of an overwhelming response to the purchase of new season tickets, which have been available to the general public for less than two weeks.

The Ducks, who have exceeded the Autzen Stadium seating capacity of 41,698 on a season basis five of the last six years, have been forced to curtail the sale of football season tickets each of the past two seasons. Last year's season sales were cut off in July after reaching a record of 28,050 tickets.

In an attempt to increase its inventory of season tickets for the coming year, Oregon previously announced a decision to reduce the number of single-game tickets available to Oregon State to this year's Civil War in Eugene from 5,200 to 2,700 seats.

Heeke added that the status of any future new season sales would be determined upon completion of the current ticket renewal process.
