Teams For 2001 Maui Invitational Announced

Three of college basketball's most storiedprograms in UCLA, Duke and Kansas will headline the 2001 Maui InvitationalHosted by Chaminade University. All three are coming off stellar seasonsand deep NCAA Tournament runs. Together with Chaminade, they will be joinedin the eight-team, three-day event by two NIT Tournament teams in Seton Halland South Carolina, as well as Ball State and Houston.

'Our 2001 Maui field looks very strong with Duke in the Final Four andKansas and UCLA boasting Sweet 16 appearances,' explains Maui Invitationalchairman Wayne Duke. 'Add in our other teams which are all considered onthe rise, and we know the Maui Invitational will once again start thecollege basketball season with a bang.'

Held November 19, 20 and 21, 2001 at the 2,400-seat Lahaina Civic Center onthe Hawaiian Island of Maui, the tournament's 18th edition will againfeature six games live on ESPN or ESPN2. Pairings will be announced laterthis summer with the possibility of more games being offered on ESPN Plus.
