March 30, 2001
American Record Holder Regina Jacobs is tentatively scheduled to make an autograph signing appearance at the Nike Stanford Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, March 31. Jacobs, the reigning U.S. National Champion in the 1500 and 5000 meters, is a 1985 graduate of Stanford University. At the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials, Jacobs established a new American record in the women's 5000 meters with a time of 14:45.35. With her two first-place finishes at the Olympic Trials, Jacobs became the 23rd U.S. track and field athlete to qualify for at least four Olympic Games.
Brad and Brent Hauser graduated from Stanford in 2000 as the most prolific distance runners in school history. They earned a combined 26 All-American honors between them during their years on The Farm and were crucial components in Stanford's winning efforts at last year's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. At the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials, Brad Hauser finished second in the men's 5000 meters to secure a spot in the Sydney Olympics.
The Hauser are scheduled to sign autographs beginning at 1:45 p.m. in The Payton Jordan Plaza at the entrance of Cobb Track and Angell Field. Jacobs is expected to arrive at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the same location.
