Men's Tennis Defeats #28 Arizona State, 6-1

TEMPE, Ariz. - The sixth-ranked Stanford University men's tennis team (12-1) increased its winning streak to five with an impressive 6-1 non-conference road victory over #28 Arizona State (8-8) on Saturday afternoon at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
Stanford opened the dual by sweeping all three doubles match. The Cardinal has captured the doubles point 11 times in 12 tries this season (doubles was not played at California). Fifth-ranked David Lipsky (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-Kennedy HS) and David Martin (Key Biscayne, FL/Boca Raton Prep) improved to 11-0 in duals and 24-2 overall with an 8-5 win over Nic Dubey and Jarrod Eckermann.
The Cardinal also captured five of the six singles matches, including four in straight sets. Third-ranked and defending NCAA singles Champion Alex Kim (Potomac, MD/Winston Churchill HS) improved to 14-2 on the year with a 6-2, 7-5 win over 57th-ranked Dubey at No. 1, while K.J. Hippensteel won his 20th match in 23 tries, and 10th in a row, by knocking off 95th-ranked Matt Klinger 6-2, 7-6 (3).
Stanford returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts the University of Utah (7-7) at 1:30 p.m. at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
