#13 Women's Tennis Defeats Tulsa

The thirteenth-ranked Arizona State (13-3, 5-3) women's tennis team began the month of April with a 7-0 victory over No. 33 Tulsa (10-6) on Sunday at the Whiteman Tennis Center. With the victory, the Sun Devils extended their home winning streak to 11 matches.

ASU earned the team point in doubles play by winning all three matches against the Golden Hurricane. The No. 23-ranked Adria Engel/Karin Palme tandem defeated Aleksandra Durska and Marjolein van Dongen 8-5. On the No. 3 court, ASU's Cindy Sureephong/Megan Yeats combo defeated Bianca Posada and Mariana Barrios 8-4. ASU's Celena McCoury and Mhairi Brown downed the duo of Jennifer DeSpain and Jana Sedivec, 8-5.

In singles action, No. 7 ASU sophomore Adria Engel bested Tulsa's Bianca Posada, 6-0, 7-5. ASU sophomore Mhairi Brown earned her 22nd overall victory (22-5) by defeating Tulsa's Marjolein van Dongen, 6-1, 6-0. Megan Yeats ousted Golden Hurricane senior Jennifer DeSpain, 6-4, 6-3.

The Devils will next travel to face No. 34 Washington State and No. 20 University of Washington this Friday and Saturday at 12:00 p.m. on both days.
