Track and Field Has Strong Showing on Day 1 at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - California posted some strong results Saturday on the first of two days of the non-scoring Stanford Invitational.

Sophomore Vincent Ibia finished second in the long jump with a personal best of 24-9.75. Sophomore Robert Kennedy was fourth in 24-3.5. Senior Phillip Pipersburg clocked s season-best time of 10.73 to finish second in his heat of the 100m.

On the women's side, senior All-American Dana Lawson took second in the shot put with a mark of 49-11.75. Freshman Stephanie Cowling also placed second in her heat of the 100mH (14.57).

While Saturday's competition didn't end until about 11 p.m., events are expected to conclude Sunday by about 4 p.m.
