Washington's JaWarren Hooker Runs Worlds Best Time In 200 Meters At Stanford Invitational

Stanford, Ca - JaWarren Hooker, a member of the six-man 4 x 400 meter relay pool that represented the United States at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, ran a world's best time this year in the 200 meters to highlight Sunday's activities at the Stanford Track & Field Invitational at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
Hooker, a six-time All-American and four-time Pac-10 champion in the sprints, ran the 200 meters in a meet and course record time of 20.33. His time in the 200 meters was only .10 off his career-best. Warren broke his own meet record of 20.58 he set last year at the Stanford Invitational. Hooker, a senior at the University of Washington, also won the 100 meters on Sunday in a time of 10.34.
Stanford athletes performed with high marks on Sunday. Stanford Olympian Michael Stember finished second in the 1,500 meters in a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:41.80. Freshman Jessica Pluth threw the hammer 187-0, an NCAA provisional mark and a freshman school record. The 1,600 meter men's relay team captured first place honors with a season-best time of 3:14.34. Stanley Wilson earned a Pac-10 qualifying time in the 200 meters (21.40), while Ryan Carroll also gained Pac-10 qualifying status with a time of 1:50.79 in the 800 meters. Also gaining conference qualifying status was Maurica Carlucci in the 800 meters (2:10.52), the trio of Sally Glynn (4:24.03), Lauren Fleshman (4:26.86) and Ashley Couper (4:34.81) in the 1,500 meters, and Maureen Onyeagbako in the hammer (183-3).
