Men's Golf Fourth After First Day of Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Led by Peter Tomasulo, the Cal men's golf team finished the first day of the Western Intercollegiate in fourth place with a 582 (+22).

Oregon leads after 36 holes with Chris Carnahan shooting identical even par scores of 70 and John Ellis adding a 71 and 70 to boost the Ducks into the team lead the first day of competition.55th

Oregon has a team total of 571 on the par 70, 6,445 yard Pasatiempo Golf Course. The Ducks hold a six-shot lead over Washington, second at 577. Pacific, which shared the first-round team lead with Oregon and San Diego State, is third at 579. California at 582 and UC Irvine and San Diego State at 585 are the top-six teams in the 18-team field.

The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday with 18 holes of play beginning at 8 a.m. (PDT).
