Stanford's Richard Quick Named Pac-10 Women's Swimming Coach Of The Year

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford's Richard Quick has been named the Pac-10 Women's Swimming Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Quick led the Cardinal to a second-place finish at the 2001 NCAA Championships last month. Stanford finished only 1.5 points behind NCAA champion Georgia. Stanford has won seven NCAA titles during Quick's 13 years and has finished no lower than third nationally under Quick. Stanford's swimmers won three individual championships and two relay titles at the 2001 NCAA Championships.
At the 2001 Pac-10 Championships, Quick led the Cardinal to nine individual championships and three relay titles.
Quick's extensive career resume includes three Olympiads as the head coach of the U.S. women's swimming team, 11-Pac-10 titles and a 95-5 dual mark while at Stanford.
Quick was previously a head coach at Texas, where he led the Longhorns to five consecutive national championships from 1984-88.
The Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors are determined by a vote of the conference's coaches.
