Men's Tennis Downs the Ducks of Oregon, 5-2

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State men's tennis team (9-8, 3-1 Pac-10) defeated the University of Oregon (8-10, 0-3 Pac-10), 5-2, today at the Whiteman Tennis Center.

The Sun Devils took the early advantage by winning all three of doubles matches for the first point. ASU's tandem of Nic Dubey and Matt Klinger claimed the first match on the No. 1 court with an 8-4 victory over David Becker and Martin Pawlowski. Jarrod Eckermann and Mitchell Bowen won the doubles point for the Sun Devils on the second court with an 8-6 victory over Oregon's Jason Menke and Buck Mink. Arizona State's third doubles victory came on the No. 3 court where Pim Van Mele and Olivier Charroin defeated Chris King and Oded Teig, 9-8.

In singles action, the Sun Devils won four of the six matches. On the No. 2 court, Matt Klinger dispatched Oregon's Martin Pawlowski, 6-3, 7-6(3). ASU junior transfer Mirza Duranovic improved his overall record to 24-8 with a 7-6(7), 6-2 victory over Buck Mink. On courts Nos. 4 and 5, Pim Van Mele and Olivier Charroin failed to drop a set as they defeated their opponents, 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 7-5, respectively.

Up next, Arizona State will take on the Huskies of the University of Washington tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. (MST) at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
