TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of Oregon men's tennis team (8-10 overall, 0-3 Pac-10) fell 5-2 to No. 28 Arizona State at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz., Friday.
Oregon picked up wins at the No. 1 and No. 5 singles. Sophomore Oded Teig improved to 19-12 this season with a win over Arizona State's Nic Dubey at No. 1 (6-4, 6-4) and freshman Greg Dubourdieu continued his impressive season with a 6-7, 6-3 (10-6) tiebreaker win over Jarrod Eckermann at No. 5.
'We had some chances in some of the other matches, but with our youth we weren't able to convert on those,' Oregon head coach Chris Russell said. 'Hopefully as we mature we'll make progress and win some of those close matches.'
Arizona State won all three doubles matches to improve to 9-8, 3-1 this season.
