Fourteenth-Ranked ASU Women's Tennis Falls to No. 22 Washington, 4-3

TEMPE, Ariz. - The fourteenth-ranked Arizona State (14-4, 6-4) women's tennis team fell to No. 22 University of Washington (16-6, 6-1) Saturday afternoon in Seattle, 4-3.

ASU failed to earn the team point in doubles play, as Celena McCoury and Mhairi Brown represented the sole victorious ASU combo, defeating Washington's Darija Klaic/Kristina Kraszewski tandem, 9-7, on the No. 1 doubles court.

In singles action, Washington got the better of the Devils by one match, gathering victories on courts No. 2, 4 and 6. For the Devils, No. 12 ASU sophomore Adria Engel impressively defeated eighth-ranked Kristina Kraszewski on the No. 1 court, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, for her 15th dual victory of the season. ASU's Megan Yeats bested the Huskies' Ilona Kordonskaya, 6-2, 7-5, on the No. 3 court, and Mhairi Brown improved her overall record to 24-5 with a victory over Andrea Coulter on the No. 5 court.

The Devils return home for a four-match swing, starting with the No. 10 University of Texas on Tuesday at the Whiteman Tennis Center at 1:30 p.m. (MST).
