Oregon Men's Tennis Falls to 48th-ranked Arizona, 7-0

The University of Oregon men's tennis team (8-11 overall, 0-4 Pac-10) was swept by the 48th-ranked Arizona Wildcats, 7-0, who pulled in their third straight win (12-6 overall, 3-5 Pac-10).
In doubles,the Ducks' Chris King and Greg Dubourdieu battled Arizona's Arnaud Agniel and Roeland Brateanu in the number three position, ultimately losing the tie-breaker, 9-8(5). In the number one position, the Cats' Steven Capriati and Carl Hagman defeated Oregon's David Becker and Buck Mink (8-4), while Arizona teammates Whi Kim and Tom Lloyd earned a win over the Ducks' Oded Teig and Jason Menke (8-5) in the number two spot.
In singles play, at the No. 1 spot, Arizona junior Steven Capriati defeated Oregon sophomore Oded Teig, 6-4, 7-5. At the second spot, Wildcat freshman Carl Hagman earned a win over the Ducks' freshman Martin Pawlowski, 6-2, 3-1, ret., while Whi Kim clinched the match for the Cats at the No. 3 spot, with a victory over the Ducks' Buck Mink, 6-3, 7-5.
'We need to work hard to turn this thing around right now,' sixth-year Oregon coach Chris Russell said. 'With these young guys, we have faced the hardest part of the road schedule and they are getting an enlightenment as to how well some of the home teams are playing. We need to keep working hard to try and turn this thing around.'
Oregon looks to travel to the Los Angeles area where they will play back-to-back matches against USC on Friday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m., and UCLA on Saturday, April 14 at 12:00 p.m.
