Women's Golf Places Ninth at ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - TThe California women's golf team wrapped up the 54-hole PING/ASU Invitational in ninth place with a 909 after firing a 303 in the final round Sunday. USC carded a tournament low round of 286 to rally from fifth place to win the 15-team tournament (889) at Karsten Golf Course.
Host Arizona State finished second four strokes off the pace with an 893, and TCU was third with an 895.
Freshman Sarah Huarte led all of Cal's golfers, tying for 20th (224) after shooting a 77 in the final round. This is the second-consecutive tournament Huarte has led the Bears. Cal sophomore Vikki Laing also placed in the top 25, tying for 22nd with a 225.
Stanford's Stephanie Keever claimed medalist honors with an even par score of 216, as the first two days leader Lorena Ochoa (Arizona) fell to a tie for third (218).
Up next for the Bears is their final preparation for the Pac-10 Championship - the Peg Barnard Intercollegiate at Stanford, April 13-14
