Randy Taylor Honored by ESPN.com
April 9, 2001
Randy Taylor, UCLA's director of football operations, has been cited as the best at his position by recruiting expert Tom Lemming of ESPN.com.
Taylor, who was hired by head coach Bob Toledo in the spring of 1996, was also on a list of the nation's top nine recruiting coordinators.
'Over the past 20 years, the one school that always seems to be ahead of the game is UCLA -- first with Bill Rees, and now with Randy Taylor, the nation's top director of football operations,' writes Lemming on his ESPN.com recruiting site.
'It's rare that I visit a high school that has not already been contacted by the Bruins. Every year I ask the top 200 players to name which coaches and assistants have made the greatest impact on them during the recruiting season. Taylor's name pops up at the top of the list, no small accomplishment when you consider that he cannot call them and can only meet them during campus visits.
'Taylor is responsible for recruiting weekends and individual unofficial visits by recruits during the spring, summer, and fall. His ability to put together an exciting, fact-filled and fun recruiting weekend is legendary. UCLA and Florida State are the best at gaining ground during official football weekends.'
