No. 1 Women's Tennis Rolls Through Arizona

Tucson, Ariz. -- The No. 1-ranked Stanford women's tennis team posted a 7-0 win over Arizona on Saturday afternoon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Cardinal is now 22-0 overall and 9-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference while the Wildcats fall to 6-13 and 1-9 in the Pac-10.
Stanford swept the Wildcats, taking the doubles point and all of the singles matches good for the 7-0 victory. Top-ranked Laura Granville grabbed her 35th win of the season by defeating Arizona's Debbie Larocque, 6-2, 6-1. Gabriela Lastra grabbed her 31st win of the year with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over the Wildcats' Michelle Gough.
The top two doubles teams in the nation both won their matches 8-3 today as Lauren Barnikow and Lauren Kalvaria defeated the Wildcats No. 1 pair of Gough and Sophie Regnier while Granville and Lastra handed Larocque and Laresa Marino a loss.
Stanford will return to action when it travels to Los Angeles to take on USC and UCLA. The Cardinal will meet up with the Trojans on Friday, April 20 at 1:30 p.m. and will face the Bruins on Saturday, April 21 at noon.
