No. 4 Men's Tennis Clinches Fifth Straight Pac-10 Title

STANFORD, Calif. -- The fourth-ranked Stanford men's tennis team posted a 7-0 win over Arizona on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium to capture its fifth straight Pac-10 title. The Cardinal is now 18-1 overall and 7-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference while the Sun Devils fall to 12-8 and 3-7 in the Pac-10.
Stanford swept the Wildcats, taking all three doubles matches and all six singles matches en route to the 7-0 victory. The No. 22 team of Scotty Scott and Ali Ansari grabbed an 8-2 win as the Cardinal took all three doubles matches.
In singles play, No. 2-ranked Alex Kim defeated Arizona's Tom Lloyd 6-1, 6-2 to improve his overall record to 20-2 on the season. Ansari leads the team with 24 wins overall this season, after defeating the Wildcats' Bruno Arapovic 6-3, 6-1 this afternoon. Stanford's six singles victories each came in two sets as the Cardinal pushed towards its fifth consecutive Pac-10 title.
The Cardinal continues its home-stand with a Tuesday night match-up against the Pepperdine Waves on April 17 at 5 p.m. Stanford will close out the regular season with non-conference matches against USC and UCLA on Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21.
