Top-Ranked UCLA Upends Oregon, 7-0

Los Angeles, CA -- The top-ranked UCLA Bruins tennis blanked the Oregon Ducks, 7-0 this afternoon at the LA Tennis Center. UCLA improves to 19-1 (6-1 Pac-10), while Oregon falls to 8-12 overall (0-6 Pac-10) with the loss.
The Bruins were just too strong for the Ducks as UCLA swept all nine matches. Jean Noel Grinda, who was honored before the match looked impressive in his final dual match at the LA Tennis Center. The senior teamed with Tobias Clemens to defeat Oregon's Oded Tieg and Jason Menke, 8-3 on court No. 2. He was equally impressive in singles as he was the first to finish, downing Tieg in straight sets by identical scores of 6-1 on court No. 1.
Senior Chris Sands, who also made his final appearance in regular season action looked impressive in singles, as he won going away on court No. 6, defeating Oregon's Menke, 6-4, 6-0.
The Bruins will wrap up the regular season next weekend in a trip to the Bay Area. UCLA will face California on Friday (Apr. 20) and Stanford the following day (Apr. 21). Fridays match will begin at 1:30, while the regular season finale on Saturday will begin at noon.
