UW Men's Tennis Drops Close Match to USC, 3-4

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The 13th-ranked University of Washington men's tennis team was defeated by No. 21 USC, 3-4, this afternoon at the Marks Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif. The loss gives Washington an overall record of 17-7 on the season (2-4 Pac-10). USC is now 13-6 this season (3-4 Pac-10).
Washington lost the doubles point as all three teams were defeated. Husky duo Jeremy Berman and Andy Posavac, playing in the first position, were beaten by USC duo Ryan Moore and Nick Rainey, 8-4. The Trojans clinched the point in the third position as Andrej Bizjak and Michael Rubin were defeated, 7-6.
In singles play, Washington fought back capturing three victories in the No. 1, 4, and 6 positions. Andrej Bizjak, who played in the No. 1 singles spot upset No. 13 Andrew Park in two sets, 7-5, 6-2. Washington's Ari Strasberg outlasted Nick Rainey, forcing him to retire in the third set, 6-4, 6-7, 2-0. Dillon Ruby also earned a point for the Huskies, taking care of Parker Collins in the sixth position, 6-2, 6-4.
Washington will play their last regular season match at home next weekend, April 21, at 1 p.m. against Oregon at the Bill Quillian Stadium, weather permitting./>
