Pritchard and Klug Compete at NCAA Championships

April 19, 2001

Athens, GA - Washington senior Mandi Klug and freshman Emily Pritchard failed to advance to the finals at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships after their opening day performances.

Klug, competing as an event specialist on balance beam, scored a 9.250. After a solid warmup and good early routine, she suffered a fall on a layout that cost her any shot at advancing. Klug won the balance beam title at the NCAA South Central Championship in Lincoln, Neb.

Pritchard competed in the all-around at the NCAAs, posting a disappointing score of 38.025. Pritchard scored 9.550 on uneven bars, 9.150 on floor exercise, 9.775 on vault and 9.550 on balance beam. Pritchard won the bars competition at the NCAA Regional and placed second in the all-around at that event. She is the highest scoring freshman in Husky history in the all-around.
