Men's Crew Sweeps Stanford At Redwood Shores

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - -
The No. 10 Oregon State men's crew turned in a convincing day of racing on Saturday, as it swept three races from Stanford at Redwood Shores.
The varsity eight opened the day with an open-water win in 5:53.4, ahead of Stanford's 6:07.2 to set the pace for the day.
The junior varsity was up to Stanford's challenge as well, winning a closer contest by cruising through the 2,000-meter course in 6:06.7 to edge Stanford's effort of 6:12.0.
The novice eight race saw OSU speed to the finish in 6:12.5 to beat Stanford's 6:24.6.
The Beavers face the country's top-ranked crew Sunday morning when they take on California.
'We had some good races today,' OSU coach Dave Reischman said. 'The JV had a much better day than they had been having in previous races. The program as a whole has made steady progress, all the boats rowed aggressively today and raced well.
'We're looking forward to tomorrow's race against Cal. We'll see where we stack up against the number-one team in the country.'
