UW Men's Tennis Defeats Oregon in Last Regular Season Match

SEATTLE, Wash. - The 16th-ranked University of Washington men's tennis team defeated Oregon this afternoon, 6-1, at the Bill Quillian Stadium to improve to 18-7 on the season (3-4 Pac-10). It was the last regular season match for both teams.

Washington claimed the doubles point as all three teams earned victories. Senior duo, Jeremy Berman and Andy Posavac, defeated David Becker and Buck Mink in the first position, 8-6. Sophomores Dillon Ruby and Ari Strasberg took their match by a score of 9-7 over Martin Pawlowski and Jason Menke. In the third position, Andrej Bizjak and Matt Hanlin defeated Oregon's Oded Teig and Chris King, 8-4.

Up 1-0 after the doubles play, Washington then earned five out of the six singles matches. Andrej Bizjak clinched the win for the Huskies, defeating Martin Pawlowski in two sets, 6-1, 7-6. Dillon Ruby, playing in the No. 6 position, took care of Greg Dubourdieu, 6-3, 6-0. Seniors Jeremy Berman and Andy Posavac played in the last regular season matches of their career. Berman defeated Oregon's Buck Mink in two sets, 6-0, 6-2 and is now 23-8 on the season. Posavac defeated David Becker, 6-2, 7-6 and is now 16-5 on the season. Playing in the No. 5 position, Ari Strasberg defeated Jason Menke, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to improve to 25-7.

Washington will travel to Ojai, Calif. next weekend, April 26-29, to compete in the Pac-10 Championships.
