Women's Tennis Wraps Up Second Straight Perfect Regular Season

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The top-ranked Stanford University women's team completed its second consecutive undefeated regular season with a 5-2 win over No. 32 UCLA on Saturday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
The Cardinal heads into the post-season with a 24-0 mark, after going 25-0 last season. Overall, Stanford has won 61 consecutive regular season matches dating back to March 5, 1999. Stanford begins the post-season with the Pacific-10 Conference Individual Championships on Thursday-Sunday in Ojai, California. The Cardinal is then expected to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The pairings and sites for the 64-team NCAA Tournament will be finalized on Thursday, May 3.
The Cardinal, which captured its 13th consecutive Pacific-10 Conference title this season, won all three doubles matches and four of the six singles contests in Saturday's non-conference tilt against the Bruins (6-17). Stanford opened play by losing just eight games in doubles competition, including an 8-0 win by senior Sarah Pestieau (New York, NY/Lycee Francais de New York) and junior Keiko Tokuda (Clifton, NJ/Clifton HS) at No. 3.
Stanford also received four straight set victories in singles play. Freshman Emilia Anderson (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson HS) was dominant at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Jennifer Donahue. The Cardinal also received straight set victories from top-ranked Laura Granville (Chicago, IL/The Latin School) at No. 1, Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic, FL/Boca Raton Prep) at No. 2 and 19th-ranked Gabriela Lastra (Reno, NV/Reno HS) at No. 3.
