Husky-Cougar Baseball Game Suspended

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington baseball team's Pac-10 game at Washington State Friday night at Bailey-Brayton Field was suspended due to rain in the sixth inning with the Huskies leading, 7-6.The game will be resumed Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the bottom of the sixth with no outsand no one on base.

The Cougars jumped on the Huskies in the first inning as the first four WSU battersreached. Mike Knight led off with a double and scored on a single from Evan Hecker.After a Bookie Gates single, Stefan Bailie blasted his 14th home run of the season over thecenter field wall to make it 4-0.

The Huskies began to chip away in the second as Tila Reynolds doubled and scored on aBen Johnson single. In the third, a single from Bryan Johnson plated Jay Garthwaite tomake it 4-2 and the Huskies loaded the bases before rain and lightning forced a 50-minutedelay. After the delay, however, WSU starter Zach Fisher got Jefferson Thiel to groundinto a double play to end the threat.

After WSU scored a fifth run in the third, the Huskies finally took a lead in the fifth, takingadvantage of two more Cougar errors in the inning. Michael Done got it started with two-run double. After two outs and a walk to Ben Johnson, Brandon Jacobson singled to tie thegame at 5-5.

Reliever Jamin Svendsen came on and watched as WSU third baseman Brent Robertsonmade errors on two consecutive hard grounders. The first scored Johnson and, after thesecond loaded the bases, Tyler Davidson walked to send home a seventh run.

WSU made it 7-6 in the fifth when Knight doubled for the second time in the game andscored on an error by Reynolds, the Husky shortstop.

The remainder of Friday's game, as well as the regularly scheduled Saturday game, willboth air in their entirety on KSRB AM-1150.
