UW Duo Ruby/Strasberg Advance to Semifinals of Pac-10 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - The Washington men's tennis tandem of Dillon Ruby and Ari Strasberg advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-10 Championships in doubles competition at the Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif. Friday afternoon. The sophomores defeated Ryan Moore and Nick Rainey of USC in the first round 8-2. In the second round, Ruby and Strasberg beat Ali Ansari and Scotty Scott of Stanford, 8-2. The Husky duo will face Olivier Charroin and Pim Van Mele of Arizona State in the semifinals on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
In invitational doubles play, the Husky duo of Andrej Bizjak and Michael Rubin advanced to the quarterfinals where they were defeated by Ben Miles and Balazs Veress of California, 8-6. Earlier in the day, Bizjak and Rubin beat USC's Christian Jensen and Scott Merryman 8-4. Redshirt freshman Matt Leon and Marius Lunde also competed in invitational play and lost to Scott Lipsky and David Martin of Stanford, 8-0.
The semifinal rounds will begin tomorrow morning while the championship matches for both singles and doubles will be held on Sun., April 29 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
