May 1, 2001
Corvallis, Ore. -
ABC Television announced Monday it will air the Nov. 3 Oregon State at Southern California football game. Game time has been moved to 12:30 p.m. from the 68,000-seat Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
The Beavers ended a 26-game losing streak by upsetting the then No. 8 Trojans 31-21 Sept. 30 at Reser Stadium. Running back Ken Simonton rushed for a career-high 234 yards, the second-highest total ever allowed by USC to one individual.
Oregon State used the victory to propel itself to a share of the Pac-10 Conference title and an invitation to the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The Beavers finished the year 11-1 overall, 7-1 in the conference, and No. 4 in the nation. USC Tied for eighth in the conference with a 2-6 mark, 5-7 overall. The Trojans enter the 2001 season under first-year head coach Pete Carroll.
The game marks the second ABC date for the Beavers, as the team travels to Eugene to play the University of Oregon in a nationally televised game Dec. 1.
ABC has not announced its conference schedule for Sept. 29, Oct. 13, Oct. 20, or Nov. 17. The network will also air two conference games Oct. 27 and Nov. 10, but has not selected either first game (12:30 p.m.) of those doubleheaders.
The network is expected to announce the rest of its league schedule during the course of the season.
