Huskies Belt Three Homers In Win At Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Washington baseball team hit three home runs as it closed out its six-day, four-gameroad trip with an 11-6 win over Gonzaga Tuesday at August/A.R.T. Stadium.
The Huskies, who had Monday's game at Gonzaga cancelled by rain, improved to 25-15on the year while Gonzaga, which leads the Coast Division in the West Coast Conference,fell to 24-21.
In an effort to get work for as many pitchers as possible, the Huskies used nine differentpitchers in the game. Gonzaga nearly followed suit, sending six different players to themound.
UW junior Randy Vanderplow (2-1), who gave up a home run in the sixth to surrender theHusky lead, picked up the victory. GU reliever Sean Ingalls (1-2) suffered the loss as heallowed Duggan Moran's two-run homer in the seventh that gave Washington the lead forgood.
Down 1-0, the Huskies scored two runs in the second to take a lead. Moran singled toscore Michael Done. Then, with Moran at first and Tila Reynolds at third, the Huskiesexecuted a double steal with Reynolds scoring.
In the fifth, right fielder Tyler Davidson belted a two-run homer to give Washington a 5-2lead. Gonzaga answered back with a two-run homer from Jared Hertz in the bottom of thefifth. The Bulldogs took the lead back in the sixth when Eric Rodland connected for a two-run shot.
In the seventh, Moran lined a shot over the right field fence with Davidson on base to takeback the lead. The Huskies tacked on four more in the eighth, which included a solo homerfrom catcher Ben Johnson and a two-run double by Davidson, who finished 2-for-4 withthree runs and five RBI. Moran was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in.
The Huskies open a 10-game homestand Friday night as Oregon State comes to HuskyBallpark for the first of a three-game Pac-10 series.
