Track and Field's Lawson Earns Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, CA - California's Dana Lawson was named the Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week for April 23-30.
Lawson led the way for Cal, assisting in its second-place finish at the Cal-Nevada State Meet. Lawson won the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 173-0. The mark was a career best and ranks No. 4 on the Bears all-time list. The senior from Clayton, Calif., also placed second in the shot put and fourth in the hammer. Her multiple placings garnered a total of 23 points for the Bears, more than 25 percent of their total team points.
This weekend, Lawson and the Bears travel to Stanford Sat., May 5, for the 107th-edition of the Big Meet at Cobb Track and Angell Field. Field events begin at 3 p.m., with the men's hammer and the women's javelin. Track events kick off with the women's 3000mSC at 4 p.m. The day ends with the men's 4x400m relay at 7:20 p.m.
