Softball Completes 4-0 Pac-10 Week with Win over Oregon State

LOS ANGELES - On senior day at Easton Stadium, the Bruins completed a 4-0 week with a 4-1 win over 14th-ranked Oregon State. UCLA improves to 53-4 (13-4 Pac-10) while the Beavers fall to 40-22-1 (7-10 Pac-10).
After a 1-2-3 top of the first inning, the Bruins came to bat, leading off with a single by sophomore shortstop Natasha Watley, who advanced to second with her 44th stolen base of the season. A single by left fielder Stephanie Ramos advanced Watley to third, and she would score on a sacrifice fly by Tairia Mims. Catcher Stacey Nuveman followed with a two-run home run over the left field fence, giving the Bruins a 3-0 lead.
The Beavers countered with an unearned run in the top of the second inning, as Shelly Prochaska reached on an error, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, and crossed the plate on a single and subsequent error.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bruins opened the inning with back-to-back doubles by Mims and Nuveman for UCLA's fourth and final run of the game.
Keira Goerl notched her 23rd victory of the season, striking out four and not issuing a walk while scattering five hits.
The Bruins return to action on Friday evening with a 7 pm first pitch at Arizona's Hillenbrand Stadium. UCLA will then travel to Arizona State to complete its regular season with a doubeheader against the Sun Devils. First pitch is scheduled for 7 pm.
