This Week In Pac-10 Track and Field (5/8)
May 8, 2001
This list contains no less than the top 20 performances in each event, while all qualifiers for the 2000 Pac-10 Championships (May 19-20, Berkeley, Calif. -- combined events May 12-13) are above the underlined mark in each event. Marks in parentheses after each event heading are (in order) Pac-10, NCAA automatic and NCAA provisional qualifying marks. NCAA provisional qualifiers who actually advance to the NCAA Championships (May 30-June 2, Eugene, Ore.) will be announced by the NCAA on Sat., May 26, no later than 10 p.m. PT.
List marks in parentheses for the races of 200 meters and under are not accepted as Pac-10 qualifying efforts, as they were not recorded in automatic (track) or metric (field) form. For the NCAA Championships, hand times are allowed, but field events still must be measured in metric units.
Indoor marks (from January 1) are accepted for the Pac-10 Championships, but not for the NCAA Championships. Wind-aided marks of greater than 4.0 mps (denoted by a capital W) are accepted for the Pac-10 Championships, but not for the NCAA Championships. Wind-aided marks of 2.0 - 4.0 mps (denoted by small w) will be accepted for NCAA Championships.
Date of performance is listed after each entry. For distances of one lap and below, hand times are converted for placing using IAAF charts (+0.24 seconds for below one lap, +0.14 seconds for one lap and up). All metric conversions in the field events are from IAAF tables, as well.
Symbols: # - NCAA automatic qualifier, + - NCAA provisional qualifier, ! - Record (what type noted within the event list), i - indoor mark, (A) - altitude over 1000 meters, *** - freshman, ** - sophomore, * - junior, no asterisk - senior.
